Roger D. CurryRoger D. Curry
Fairmont, West Virginia

While Roger has academic and professional distinctions, he will tell you that his primary education and training has been in the College of Hard Knocks, at which he has been and remains an attentive student. Roger has labored in all of the Courts of West Virginia, State and Federal, for 30 + years.  One layer of the esteem in which he is held is that he often represents other lawyers when they need legal help.  He began working in Courthouses and Law Offices as a senior in high school doing land records searches.  He obtained and eclectic undergraduate education at Fairmont State College and a degree in Business Administration-Accounting.  However, he was the "first and only" business student to graduate with Honors in Literature.  Roger received his legal education at West Virginia University College of Law where he was offered a place on Law Review but instead chose to work on actual cases for actual clients at a local litigation law firm. He started his career there with a win first time out in Federal District Court.
Roger has maintained outside service interests.  He is a lifelong volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America.  He has received numerous awards and distinctions within that organization but maintains his focus on the task of introducing young people to the outdoors and the concepts of self-reliance and responsibility.
Roger also has a long and rich history in the Emergency Medical Services, having served with Marion County Rescue Squad in every operational job including that of paramedic.  After "retiring" from field EMS work, he continued to work as a consultant.  He co-drafted the current EMS legislation in West Virginia.
In 1984 when the West Virginia Legislature first formed and Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council, Roger was appointed as its first Chairman,  Recently, he was reappointed to the Council by Governor Joe Manchin.  It is a matter of great pride to Roger that his son, Tim Curry, is now a paramedic with his MCRS.
Roger is known as a book collector and lover of literature.  He writes and submits light- hearted book reviews for various publications. He maintains a blog and writes other articles and essays.  He is an outdoorsman, maintains an interest in firearms and is active in his church.
